A new month is here and that means it’s time to shuffle my oracle cards and see what’s coming our way! As you probably know, I don’t use these readings to try to predict the future. Instead, my goal is to get some guidance around how we can best navigate the month from a broader perspective.
I also share weekly oracle card readings in the Nourish + Shine Facebook group.
This month, I pulled 4 cards to answer the following questions:
- What is the overall theme for the month?
- What do we need to invite into our lives (what do we need more of) so that we can thrive this month?
- What do we need to let go of (what do we need less of) so that we can thrive this month?
- Is there any additional guidance that can help us this month?
(If you’re interested, I used The Psychic Tarot oracle deck by John Holland.)
THIS MONTH’S THEME
Card: Victory & Success
This is a great card to start the month with! After a rather intense few months, it’s nice to see a positive card to start the reading. 🙂
The message here is that you’ve weathered the storm and better times are on the horizon! Keep in mind, this reading is for the entire month, so you might still be in a bit of a metaphorically rainy season, but hopefully things are feeling lighter and more positive for you. If not, hang in there!
It’s important to remember to celebrate small wins and acknowledge the hard work you’ve put in to your own personal growth, as well as any projects you’ve taken on. Celebrate the person you’re becoming…which is actually a more authentic version of YOU. This year has been about stripping away the parts of you that no longer fit so that you can emerge a truer, wiser, more confident version of yourself.
You’ve gone through some challenging times and you’re still here, and still hopeful, which means you are so much stronger than you sometimes give yourself credit for! Get ready to embody this new version of yourself!
WHAT TO INVITE IN
The temptation card is calling you to look at your shadow side. In particular, it’s asking you to look at how you might be trying to avoid pain or fill any voids that you might be feeling with external sources of temporary pleasure. This could mean addictive behaviour (including your phone!) or it could be the stories you tell yourself that you know deep down aren’t true.
Facing our shadow side is not easy work! Many people will never even attempt it. It’s much easier to go on blaming everything and everyone around you for why you aren’t happy or why you haven’t been able to accomplish your goals.
But, if you want to grow and uncover that new version of yourself that I talked about with the last card, then facing your shadow is critical.
I want to be clear though, shadow work is not about judging yourself or criticizing yourself. If you’re doing that, you’re operating from your shadow self! Facing your shadow means shining light on it. It means being honest with yourself and acknowledging the part you’ve played (both good and bad) in your life, but doing it with self-love and compassion.
Remember, you’ve always done the best you could in your current circumstances. But now your current circumstances are changing…you know better…you ARE better.
Next time you catch yourself mindlessly scrolling Facebook, or engaging in negative self-talk, ask yourself, what would the wiser, stronger, more confident version of myself do right now?
WHAT TO LET GO
Card: Heartache & Loss
I’m definitely picking up a theme this month…we’ll have lots of internal shifts going on! Similar to the last card, we’re being asked to let go of our past stories, in particular the ones that are painful.
Have you ever noticed that the stories you cling to most are the ones that were most painful for you? There’s a good reason for that: your brain does not want to forget them for fear of experiencing the pain again.
The problem is, sometimes the story becomes such a strong part of your identity that you can no longer separate yourself from it. You begin to live your life from that wounded part of you and it affects the way you show up in the world. Even though the story itself is painful, it becomes just as painful to think about leaving the identity created from that story behind.
Who would you be without your painful stories? How would you show up in the world? What would change for you if you let them go?
I’m not suggesting that you have to forget about your past. In fact, I’m suggesting the opposite: allow all of it to be a part of you. But in doing that, you have to include who you’re becoming now and what’s true for you now. What new stories are you ready to create? What new identity are you ready to take on?
Your past is not the only thing that defines you! What else defines you? (This is the question you must ask yourself!)
Card: Prosperity Begins
As we near the end of the reading, we’ve come full circle, with another message of positivity and growth. The image on this card is of a tree, with its roots stretching out into the earth. The work you’re doing now (that you’ve been doing and will continue to do this month) is creating a strong foundation for growth for the remainder of 2018.
Although the first quarter of the year has already flown by, this is really still the beginning of a new chapter for you. (Because your soul’s timeline doesn’t fit neatly into the calendar year!)
Sometimes things don’t go as quickly as you’d like them to. It might feel like you’ve been doing lots of inner work and it has yet to materialize into your physical life. But even though you might not see results yet, the seeds have been planted and there’s a lot going on behind the scenes!
As I look at this month’s reading as a whole, it feels very positive. Yes, there’s still some challenges ahead. The biggest challenge is always within us, isn’t it? It’s our own fears and beliefs that hold us back the most.
If you’ve been doing a lot of inner work, like I have, you might be feeling frustrated. Sometimes it feels like you’re just spinning your wheels and not getting anywhere. But it feels like things are shifting and you’ll soon start to see the inner work show up in your outer world.
Keep listening to your inner Wise Self and following that inner guidance. Watch for signs and symbols that you’re on the right path. And most of all trust in yourself and trust the process! <3
