February 2018 Oracle Card Reading

February 2018 Oracle Card ReadingA new month is here and that means it’s time to shuffle my oracle cards and see what’s coming our way! As you probably know, I don’t do these readings in an attempt to predict the future. Instead, my goal is to get some guidance around how we can best navigate the month from a broader perspective.

I also share weekly oracle card readings in the Nourish + Shine Facebook group.

This month, I pulled 4 cards to answer the following questions:

  1. What is the overall theme for the month?
  2. What do we need to invite into our lives (what do we need more of) so that we can thrive this month?
  3. What do we need to let go of (what do we need less of) so that we can thrive this month?
  4. Is there any additional guidance that can help us this month?

(If you’re interested, I used The Psychic Tarot oracle deck by John Holland.)

Card 1 February 2018 Oracle Card Reading

This Month’s Theme

Card: Heartbreak & Loss

Although this may feel like a negative card, I believe that it signifies a need for healing and self-love. This month may be challenging for you. Old wounds will resurface. Relationships might feel rocky and may even break apart. People you love may disappoint you. Circumstances in your life may not turn out the way you expect or the way you hoped. In fact, you might end up feeling disappointed in yourself too.

This month, you’ll come face-to-face with the parts of yourself that you’ve desperately wanted to hide away. It’s in facing your shadows that you’ll be able to begin shedding old beliefs, habits, identities and dreams that you’ve outgrown. This is a kind of loss in its own right, and it can be just as painful as ending a relationship.

All of this may lead to you feeling discouraged, frustrated & alone. If you experience this, know that you are never truly alone and please reach out for support.

Of course, no one wants to experience heartbreak or loss, but sometimes the most painful experiences are what finally drive change. Sometimes you have to see the truth about a person, a situation, or even yourself in order to fully accept it and move forward. As painful as these times may be, without them, you wouldn’t know or appreciate the good times.

Ultimately, the heartbreak and loss will lead you to look within yourself for love and acceptance. It isn’t anyone’s job to give you validation, and if you’re looking for it outside of yourself, you’ll always be disappointed. You can begin to love and accept yourself today, just as you are. In any challenging situation, ask yourself how you can come from a place of self-love, self-acceptance and self-compassion. It isn’t easy and it won’t happen overnight, but you can start to build that relationship with yourself right now.

Card 2 February 2018 Oracle Card Reading

What to invite in

Card: Trapped in Fear

This month, you’ll need to amp up the self-care, self-acceptance and honesty. There will be some harsh truths to face this month and you will need to support yourself through it.

Although it’s hard to hear, there will be no escaping this truth: The only person holding you back is you.

It’s important not to spiral into blame or harsh judgment, but you will need to step back and be completely truthful with yourself. Have you been trying to be someone you’re not? Have you been striving to meet goals that aren’t yours? Have you been staying stuck because it’s more comfortable than trying something new? What part have you played in whatever is coming up for you this month?

Once you’ve sat down with your Wise Self for a dose of honesty, then it’s time to invite in the self-love and compassion. Remember that you have always done the best you could with what you knew and what you were given. When you know better, you do better.

Forgive yourself for any mistakes. (I prefer to think of mistakes as measures of alignment. They help us know what works for us and what doesn’t!) Get in touch with what you truly want and make a plan to start moving forward with this new perspective that you now have. You can start fresh at any time!

Card 3 February 2018 Oracle Card Reading

What to let go

Card: Stand Your Ground

As I mentioned, part of the challenge this month will be to let go of old, disempowering beliefs that you have about yourself. This could include some unhealthy habits too – whether mental or physical. It’s time to let them go!

Here are a few beliefs to let go of this month:

I don’t know what I want.

I can’t have what I want.

No one supports me.

I can’t be myself.

I’m not ready.

I’m not smart enough, strong enough, interesting enough, motivated enough, compassionate enough, dedicated enough, focused enough, {insert your belief} enough!

None of those beliefs are of any use to you anymore!

Here’s one you can replace them with:

I am enough.

You may not always believe it, but you have the strength & wisdom to get through anything that life throws your way. Sometimes you just need a little reminder.

Additional Guidance

Card: Obstacles & Challenges

When I drew this card, my first thought was, OK, I get it, February will be a challenging month! Ha! Can we get some good news now? I even considered drawing another card. But, I always like to present the cards as they stand because the truth is, life is not always rainbows and unicorns. And that’s OK!

We wouldn’t experience true joy, if we didn’t also experience sorrow. We can’t have moments of divine inspiration without also experiencing drudgery and boredom. And we definitely can’t understand the satisfaction of reaching our goals and watching our dreams come to life without also experiencing frustration and painful setbacks.

Even though obstacles can be hard and uncomfortable, they’re a necessary part of our growth. If we were to step back and see the big picture, we would see how all of the events of our lives are like brush strokes on canvas. Together, they make a beautiful painting. If you tried to erase the “negative” strokes, the painting would be ruined.

During the painting process, it can be hard to see why certain strokes are needed. But sometimes we just have to trust that a masterpiece is at work, even if we can’t see it yet.

Finally, don’t forget to notice the beautiful moments this month. It’s easy to let the tough stuff overshadow the everyday joys. But there will be plenty of happy moments to celebrate too! Life really is made of moments and it’s up to you to capture them.  🙂
